Newsweek: Republican Bill Would Deport Immigrants on Suspicion of Being in a Gang—Even if They Haven’t Committed a Crime

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would give U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) free reign to detain and deport immigrants based on mere suspicion they are associated with a gang. NIJC advocated against this dangerous and sinister bill which only encourages racial profiling and puts victims of gang violence, including children, at risk of being sent back to the brutal violence they fled.
