After Chicago police wrongly placed his name in Chicago's gang database (a mistake it has admitted), NIJC client Wilmer Catalan-Ramirez woke up one day with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pounding on his door. They later physically assaulted him, fracturing his shoulder and took him to immigration detention. Wilmer spent 10 months wrongfully detained until his release on January 10, 2018.
