Immigrants are a part of the fabric of our community. Some of them are also survivors of crimes committed in the U.S. and/or domestic violence. These survivors often times depend on legal representation to obtain security and to move forward with dignity. This is an orientation for pro bono attorneys interested in supporting the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) U Visa and/or VAWA pro bono program. NIJC experts will present an overview of the two types of legal protection for immigrants: U Visa and VAWA. the basic elements of these claims, the importance of pro bono attorneys and how to get involved. This training is intended for legal practitioners.
