However, the United States subjects hundreds of thousands of people yearly, including LGBTQ and HIV-positive people, to its massive network of jails and prisons.
As the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) provides legal services to immigrants from around the world, many of whom do not speak English, we depend on the vital skills of volunteer translators and interpreters to ensure people can communicate their stories throughout their cases.
