Fellowships
The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) invites rising third-year law students and recent law graduates to join NIJC as a legal fellow for up to two years.
- NIJC invites rising third-year law students and recent law graduates to join NIJC as a legal fellow for up to two years, beginning in the fall of 2027. NIJC seeks to host fellows through programs including Equal Justice Works, the Skadden Foundation, Soros Fellowships, and other public interest fellowships, including law school funded programs. NIJC will work with candidates to develop proposals for submission, helping tailor proposals to address important immigration rights issues. To apply, please send a resume, letter of interest, law school transcripts, and writing sample. Though we will consider applications on a rolling basis, applications should be submitted to NIJC no later than July 24, 2026, to ensure sufficient time for selection and to prepare the fellowship proposals. Apply here.
- NIJC is proud to continue its Schreiber Legal Fellowship Program through the generosity of John and Kathy Schreiber. Fellowships will begin immediately following Labor Day in September 2026, and they will last until the end of August 2028. NIJC will select at least two fellows, who will provide legal representation to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers for two years. See more information and apply for the Schreiber Legal Fellowship.
Internships
Applications for summer 2026 internships are now closed. We will post internship opportunities for future terms as they become available.
NIJC offers internships to law and undergraduate students in its various legal service programs, as well as in its communications and development teams. The internship presents an excellent opportunity to learn more about U.S. immigration law and policy, while making a difference in the lives of low-income individuals who need legal representation.
Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Internships
Applications are closed for fall 2026 PILI law student internships. We will open up applications for spring PILI internships in mid-October. View more information about the PILI program here.
