Keep families together, prevent a neighbor's deportation, and protect people seeking safety.

NIJC's Pro Bono Project partners with legal volunteers to provide free legal representation for low-income immigrants seeking family- or protection-based relief. NIJC welcomes interested attorneys to represent these clients on a pro bono basis.

The immigration system is complex and your time and skills are invaluable. Our community's greatest need is for full pro bono representation of immigrants and asylum seekers. Prior to handing over a case for full representation, NIJC extensively screens all cases to ensure that only those who are legally eligible for the immigration benefit sought and those with the fewest private resources enter NIJC’s program and are referred for pro bono representation. To set you and the client up for success, NIJC provides training, technical assistance and case support as necessary throughout the life of a case.

Providing pro bono representation can save lives, ensure access to justice for vulnerable populations and a fair application of law in our federal legal system. Our pro bono volunteers recognize that NIJC’s Pro Bono Program provides unique opportunities to work with diverse clients and excellent legal experiences.

Please see this general overview of NIJC's pro bono program for more information.
