A bill introduced in the House, Immigrant Detainee Legal Rights Act, would expand detained immigrants' access to legal aid. Currently less than 10 percent of all facilities that hold immigrants provide legal orientation programs, and immigrants do not receive court appointed counsel. NIJC's Keren Zwick discusses the impact this bill could have for the tens of thousands of immigrants who are held in detention daily.
