Since entering office, the Biden administration has nearly doubled the number of people locked in U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention, extended existing contracts with private prison companies in some communities that have explicitly rejected ICE detention, started a contract to detain immigrant youth, and signed an agreement to open a new massive for-profit immigrant detention center.
