NIJC Condemns Trump Administration’s Gutting of the DOJ Accredited Representative Program for Immigrants

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reportedly gutted the Executive Office for Immigration Review’s Recognition and Accreditation Program, which for more than 60 years has expanded access to legal services in the immigration system by permitting qualified non-attorney DOJ-accredited representatives, embedded in nonprofits with extensive experience, to provide legal representation for indigent immigrants.

Federal Court Blocks Significant Pieces of Administration’s Sweeping Immigration Appeals Rule That Eliminates Meaningful Judicial Review

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an order in Amica Center for Immigrant Rights et al. v. Executive Office for Immigration Review et al., blocking significant pieces of the Trump-Vance administration’s new policy that sought to eliminate meaningful appellate review before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
