Experts from the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) host a training for pro bono attorneys on current asylum practices in the Chicago and Indianapolis Immigration Courts. During this training, NIJC staff guide interested volunteers through the basics of asylum law, advice for working with asylum-seeking clients, and how to prepare and present a defensive asylum case. We also give an overview of the next steps for pro bono attorneys ready to take a timebound asylum case with NIJC.
