Rodriguez-Galicia v. Gonzales is one of several appeals the National Immigrant Justice Center has taken to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to demonstrate the need for review of lower cases by independent judges.  These decisions have played a significant role in the immigration debate.

In this case, the Seventh Circuit held that the immigration judge's lack of impartiality and abusive conduct violated the immigrant's due process rights, 422 F.3d 529 (7th Cir. 2005).
