Annual Asylum Training for Pro Bono Attorneys

The National Immigrant Justice Center’s (NIJC) annual 2026 Asylum Training for Pro Bono Attorneys is on Wednesday, January 14 from 9:00-11:30am CT via Zoom.
Experts from NIJC will host an intensive, free training for pro bono attorneys on current asylum practices in the Chicago and Indianapolis Immigration Courts. During this training, NIJC staff will guide you through the basics of asylum law, advice for working with asylum-seeking clients, and how to prepare and present your case. We will also give an overview of the next steps for pro bono attorneys ready to take a timebound asylum case with NIJC.
NIJC provides CLE credit to all attorneys who attend live trainings and are licensed in Illinois. We must have the ARDC number to request CLE credit. The attorney should enter their ARDC number into the evaluation form within one week of the training. Otherwise, our certificates are valid for DOJ accreditation and are accepted for CLE credit by many states as credit from an approved out-of-state jurisdiction.
