U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently published a new Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, for individuals seeking an employment authorization document (EAD).  The old form, dated 01/17/17, can only be used until 12/03/2017.  Starting 12/04/17, USCIS will only accept the 07/17/17 edition of Form I-765.  Please see https://www.uscis.gov/i-765 for more information.

The new Form I-765 allows applicants who do not yet have a social security number to check a box to request that the Social Security Administration issue a social security card in conjunction with the I-765.  Individuals who are eligible for employment authorization and do not yet have a social security number can check this box to request a social security card.  NIJC is monitoring this process to determine whether seeking a social security card through the EAD process is more efficient than seeking one separately.  Attorneys who encounter issues in obtaining a social security card for their NIJC clients through the new I-765 application should contact their NIJC point-of-contact.

Finally, USCIS recently changed the filing location for asylum application-based EADs (category c8) to the Dallas Lockbox.  The new address is listed below.  Attorney should always verify the filing location by reviewing the USCIS mailing address list prior to filing an I-765 application.
